KG-16 – Horse Tour in Son-Kul Kyrgyzstan | 6 days


Over the course of the trip, you will have the opportunity to spend a night in a yurt, the real dwelling of the ancient nomads, and get acquainted with their life and culture.

You will have a unique opportunity to communicate with animals, learn to feel and understand them.

Horseback riding is a wonderful way to closely experience the nomadic life. On this multi-day tour, we will visit different climatic zones – from semi-desert to tundra.

Day 1 |Manas Airport – Bishkek

After landing in Bishkek, you will be met by a guide for transfer to the hotel. After getting settled at the hotel, we will begin our tour with an early dinner in a restaurant serving national cuisine. We will visit the central part of Bishkek, parks, and get acquainted with amazing places in the city

Day 2| Bishkek – Son-Kul Lake (280 km drive, 5 hours horse riding)

After breakfast at the hotel, we will travel to Kyzart by car. We will eat lunch at the home of a local family in Kyzart, and start our equestrian tour to the west side of the unique Son-Kel lake (3016 meters above sea level). You will be offered a taste if koumiss – a national drink made from a mixture of mare’s milk and bread.

Accommodation: Yurt Camp in Son-Kul Lake (4 people in one yurt)

Day 3 | Son-Kul Lake (5 hours horse riding)

After breakfast in the yurt, we will continue our tour on horseback to the south side of the lake. Lunch will be a picnic served in the middle of the beautiful nature. We will arrive at the Silk Road yurt camp in the evening. Upon arrival at the camp, we will make a felt carpet with patterns together with the owners.

Day 4 | Son-Kul Lake – Kizart (5 hours horse riding)

After breakfast in the yurt, we will continue our equestrian tour in the direction of Kyzart and enjoy a picnic amid the area’s nature. We will arrive in the village of Kyzart in the evening. Upon arrival in Kyzart, we will prepare the national bread “Boorsok” together with the owners and eat it with homemade sour cream.

Day 5 | Kizart – Bishkek (300 km)

After breakfast with a local family, we will say goodbye to our hosts and return to Bishkek. Along the way, we will visit the Tower of Burana minaret, preserved from the times of the ancient city Balasagyn (XI – XIII centuries). We will visit the exhibition museum of the Dungan tradition with a local family, where we will also enjoy a delicious lunch. Upon arrival in Bishkek,  we will deliver you to the hotel

Day 6 | Bishkek – Manas Airport

Early in the morning, you will be picked up and brought to the airport for your flight home, having gained wonderful and lasting impressions from what you have seen and experienced.
