Explore Central Asia in One Epic Journey

Discover the beauty of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan on this unforgettable Silk Road adventure. During the tour, you will explore ancient cities, mountain lakes, nomadic culture, colorful bazaars, and UNESCO heritage sites.

In addition, you will experience local traditions, taste authentic cuisine, and visit some of the most famous landmarks in Central Asia.


Day 1 – Arrival in Almaty & City Tour

Upon arrival in Almaty, you will meet your guide and transfer to the hotel.

First, we will explore the central part of the city. During the tour, you will see historic buildings, cathedrals, parks, and city squares. Afterwards, we will visit Kok Tobe Hill for panoramic views of Almaty.

Later, we will continue to Medeo, one of the world’s highest mountain skating rinks. In addition, guests can take a cable car ride to Shymbulak Ski Resort and enjoy the mountain scenery.

Day 2 – Charyn Canyon & Kolsai Lake

After breakfast, we will drive to the breathtaking Charyn Canyon.

First, we will explore the canyon and enjoy free time for photography. Afterwards, we will continue to Saty Village for lunch at a local guesthouse.

Later, we will visit the beautiful Kolsai Lakes surrounded by pine forests and mountains.

Day 3 – Border Crossing & Karakol

After breakfast, we will transfer to the Kegen border post and cross the border on foot.

Then, we will enjoy a picnic lunch in nature before continuing to Karakol.

In the evening, we will have dinner with a local Dungan family. During dinner, guests will enjoy a folklore performance by a traditional music band.

Day 4 – Jeti Oguz & Skazka Canyon

Today we will explore the natural beauty of the southern shore of Issyk-Kul Lake.

First, we will visit Jeti-Oguz Valley and see the famous “Seven Bulls” rocks and “Broken Heart” formation. Afterwards, guests can hike or ride horses to Maiden Braid Waterfall.

Later, we will continue to Barskoon Gorge and visit one of its waterfalls. We will also see the Yuri Gagarin monument.

After lunch, we will explore the colorful Skazka Canyon.

Day 5 – Nomadic Culture & Bishkek

After breakfast, we will travel to Bishkek.

On the way, we will stop in Bokonbaevo village to watch a traditional eagle hunting demonstration. Afterwards, we will visit Kyzyl-Tuu village and learn how Kyrgyz yurts are assembled.

Later, we will visit the ancient Burana Tower before arriving in Bishkek.

Day 6 – Bishkek & Flight to Osh

In the morning, we will enjoy a short city tour around Bishkek. During the tour, we will visit Ala-Too Square, Oak Park, and Panfilov Park.

After lunch, we will explore Ala Archa National Park and enjoy the mountain landscapes.

In the evening, we will take a domestic flight to Osh.

Day 7 – Osh & Uzbekistan Border Crossing

Today we will discover the ancient Silk Road city of Osh.

First, we will visit the sacred Sulaiman-Too UNESCO site. Afterwards, we will explore Jayma Bazaar and other city landmarks.

Later, we will cross the border into Uzbekistan and continue to Kokand.

Day 8 – Kokand & Khujand

After breakfast, we will enjoy a sightseeing tour in Kokand.

Then, we will continue toward the Tajikistan border and cross on foot. Afterwards, transfer to Khujand.

Day 9 – Penjikent & Samarkand

Today we will travel through ancient Silk Road cities.

First, we will visit Istaravshan and its local bazaar. Afterwards, we will continue to Penjikent and explore the ancient city of Sarazm.

Later, we will cross the border back into Uzbekistan and arrive in Samarkand.

Day 10 – Samarkand City Tour

Today we will discover the architectural treasures of Samarkand.

During the tour, we will visit Registan Square, Bibi Khanum Mosque, and Siab Bazaar. In addition, there will be free time to enjoy the atmosphere of the ancient city.

Day 11 – Samarkand to Bukhara

After breakfast, we will travel by train to Bukhara.

Upon arrival, we will begin a sightseeing tour of the old city. Highlights include the Ark Fortress, Bolo-Khaouz Mosque, and Poi Kalyan complex.

Day 12 – Turkmenistan Border & Overnight Train

Today we will cross the border into Turkmenistan.

After immigration procedures, we will continue to Turkmenabat for a short city tour. Later, we will board the overnight train to Ashgabat.

Day 13 – Ashgabat & Darvaza Gas Crater

After arriving in Ashgabat, we will explore the capital city and visit major landmarks.

Later, we will drive through the Karakum Desert to the famous Darvaza Gas Crater, also known as the “Door to Hell.”

Day 14 – Khiva City Tour

After breakfast, we will cross back into Uzbekistan and continue to Khiva.

During the city tour, we will explore ancient madrasahs, mosques, mausoleums, and traditional bazaars.

Day 15 – Tashkent & Departure

In the morning, we will fly to Tashkent.

During the final city tour, we will visit Independence Square, the Tashkent Metro, Kukeldash Madrasah, and the Museum of Decorative Arts.

Finally, we will transfer to the airport for your international flight home.

Meeting at airport, transfer to Almaty

Almaty City tour

First part of the tour passes through the central part of Almaty and covers many sights. A walk here allows you to see the old buildings of the city and cathedrals that are steeped in history, take a walk through the famous Almaty park and city squares. Visit Kok Tobe

Lunch

Second part of the tour will introduce you to one of the world’s largest alpine complex for winter sports – Medeo. Here you can go ice skating, make memorable photos with a falcon, dressed in Kazakh national clothes, or just take a walk around the complex. And above Medeo is the Shymbulak ski resort, which is climbed by cable car.

Osh city tour.

According to legend, Osh was constructed by King Solomon and has served as the first place where the merchants of the West met the merchants of the Far East. For centuries it has served as a key position on the legendary Silk Road.

The tour guide will take you for a visit to the holy Suleiman – Too Mountain. This UNESCO Cultural Legacy Site has served as a pilgrimage site for 1500 years. The main visitors are women because they believe that visiting and praying at the mountain will increase their chance of giving birth to healthy children, an ancient Silk Road tradition.

We will then visit a museum located within the bowels of the earth, and proceed to visit the local Jayma Bazaar. If time permits we will then visit the Russian Cathedral of the Archangel Michael, and the central square of Osh – home to the world’s greatest statue of Lenin, some 25 meters in height.

Sightseeing tour in Bukhara: The Ark Citadel (XVIIe – XXe c), Bolo-Khaouz Mosque (1712), Ismail Samani Mausoleum (IXe – Xe ss), Chachma Ayub Mausoleum. Then visit the Poi Kalyan complex. The minaret is one of the rare monuments that survived the destructive wrath of Ghengis Khan who destroyed most of the monuments of Central Asia. After, visit of trade domes Toki-Zargaron; Trade Dome Toki-Sarafon and Toki-Tilpak Furushon; Magok-Attor Mosque, Lyabi Khouz square.

Then transfer to the border post Farap. Cross the border around 2h. With your invitation letter you will be able to get your Turkmenistan visas at the border.

Please note: Depending on the number of people waiting to cross the border you will need to wait up to one or two hours, also be prepared to be thoroughly searched.

Meet up with the guide and transfer to Turkmenabad (2 hours from Alat)

Upon arrival in Turkmenabat, Lunch in Turkmenabat, short city tour in Turkmenabat, including a visit to the city centre, pass by the central square, and theatre.

Transfer to the railway station. Train to Ashgabad 19:20. Overnight at train.

Dinner

8:30 arrive at Ashgabad by train. Short sightseeing tour (3-4 hrs) in Ashgabat. The tour includes a visit to the National Museum of History, the Arch of Neutrality, and the Independence Park.

Drive to Darwaza (270 km, 5h) via water crater and Erbent desert community. Opportunity to visit Altyn Asyr Gundogar Bazaar in the north of Ashgabat. Arrival in Darwaza

Walking tour to Alisher Navoi Ballet and Opera House. Built by Japanese prisoners of war and designed by Shusev, the same architect who built Lenin’s tomb, the architecture of this opera is a skilled mix of a number of influences that characterize Uzbekistan: Islamic art is combined with classicism, which leads to beautiful results – with a neo-classical façade, topped with stalagmites, Moorish style.

Then, visit Independence Square and The Tashkent Tube (Metro).

Visits of Friday Mosque and Kaffol Shoshi Mausoleum, Kukeldash Madrasah.

Visit the Museum of Decorative Arts. One of the most interesting museums in Tashkent is the Museum of Decorative Arts with an extensive collection of ceramics, carved wood, textiles, carpets, metalwork, and other handicrafts.
